Research shows that early identification of child physical abuse reduces the rate of subsequent injury and death by up to 50%, yet children are not consistently screened for physical abuse due to insufficient provider knowledge and lack of a systematic screening protocol. This presentation will provide an overview of child physical abuse, including red flags and injuries that are suspicious for abuse. Using interactive case studies, participants will learn how to utilize the validated Escape instrument to screen and identify children at high risk for physical abuse.
