This module contains three separate presentations by international experts on topics related to functional GI disorders. The first presentation addresses the art of delivering care to children with FGID’s. Together, a pediatric gastroenterologist and psychologist discuss the proper assessment and diagnostic criteria when FGID is suspected and the best way to discuss this diagnosis with the patient and family. The second module is a brief review of the benefits of hypnosis in pediatrics. Former APGNN President, Robin Shannon APRN, provides practical tips for utilization of hypnosis. In the last presentation of this module, Dr. Miranda van Tilburg, PhD explores the contribution of early adverse childhood experiences (ACE) to the development of pediatric FGID’s. Following review of this 90 minute module, the provider will gain deeper understanding of how to assess, diagnose, treat and discuss the diagnosis of FGID. They will also have an increased awareness to factors related to pediatric functional gastrointestinal disorders.
