The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention has identified improper use of antibiotics to be an important factor that must be addressed for both patient safety and public health. This presentation will identify high-risk symptoms of allergy, differentiate between adverse reactions, IgE-mediated allergic reaction and delayed T-cell reactions, as well as discuss appropriate testing for penicillin allergy. Additionally, the presenter will address alternative antibiotics that can be used until a formal allergy evaluation can be completed.
