According to the CDC, 2-5 million, animal bites occur annually in the United States and per the American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC), close to 10,000 insect bites or stings were reported to their centers. This presentation will be delivered in a case study format to help the participant identify needed history taking, recognize proper wound care if needed, and delineate required interventions. Lastly, appropriate pharmacology will be introduced, including a discussion on if and when antimicrobials and prophylaxis are warranted.

NAPNAP’s self-paced certification exam review course includes recordings and downloadable handouts from our live acute care certification review course on Sept. 21-23, 2023.
