Oral contraceptives have been a mainstay in adolescent reproductive management for many years. While many providers are knowledgeable in this therapeutic management for birth control and dysfunctional uterine bleeding, there are many more indications of use. This presentation will offer broader considerations for the common birth control and DUB decision making, as well as review the use of OC in premenstrual conditions, ovarian dysgenesis, Turner's syndrome and Acne. |

Online Dangers for Children and Adolescents: Pornography Exposure and Online Sexual Solicitation 1.0 NAPNAP Contact Hour. The internet provides many opportunities to enrich the lives of youth by providing greater access to learning opportunities, valuable resources and positive social interactions with peers. However, the internet is a relatively unregulated entity that can place children and adolescents at risk for a variety of negative and potentially dangerous exposures including pornography, online sexual solicitations and interactions with older adolescents, peers and adults. This session will describe child and adolescent exposure to pornography and online sexual solicitation and use interactive case studies to explore implications for practice. |

Navigating the Psychosocial and Cultural Barriers Impacting Breastfeeding Among African American Mothers 1.25 NAPNAP contact hours and 1.25 L-CERP. This continuing education activity is offered free to members of the Breastfeeding Education Special Interest Group (BFE SIG). For non-members, this continuing education activity rate is $25.00, and for members of NAPNAP, the activity rate is $12.50. Many African American mothers want to breastfeed for the health benefits but have unique challenges in initiating and sustaining breastfeeding. When health care providers have knowledge of psychosocial factors and cultural beliefs underlying African American mothers' infant feeding decisions, they can more effectively assist in overcoming challenges and influence successful breastfeeding practices. During this session, the provider will gain knowledge of the psychosocial and cultural barriers that impact breastfeeding duration among African American mothers and evidence-based culturally sensitive breastfeeding assessment and supportive interventions will be presented that target their unique breastfeeding challenges. |

The session will also introduce the Alliance to Prevent Youth Suicide, a new five year initiative supported by NAPNAP Partners for Vulnerable Youth.
