Pain and sedation management in the pediatric population has traditionally focused on opioids and benzodiazepines, but there are many other options. We will review the benefits of using a multimodal strategy for pain and sedation management, including the use of alternative agents and administration routes, to ensure patient comfort. We will also review side effect prevention, including delirium assessment and management.
