Pediatric health priorities often take a backseat to other policies deemed to be more pressing. As a result, there is tremendous opportunity for engagement with national, state, and local policymakers to elevate the awareness of policies that impact pediatric health outcomes and our professional practice. This session will illustrate strategies for engaging in advocacy for our profession and our patients using the latest data on the pediatric-focused APRN workforce and timely, policy-relevant pediatric health priorities. Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic significantly altered the traditional advocacy experience, resulting in new approaches to advocacy and activism that will be highlighted in the presentation. By the end of this session, attendees will have exposure to strategies focused on the use of education as an advocacy tool to address pediatric health policy priorities, increasing the effectiveness of advocacy efforts.
