Presentations featuring our Lyme disease clinical expert, Ashley Gyura.

Tick Talk: Lyme Edition
This presentation will review the etiology and epidemiology of Lyme disease in the United States. The presenter will discuss common presentations of Lyme disease, including early localized, early disseminated, and late Lyme disease to improve understanding of diagnostic approach for potential Lyme disease cases, including laboratory testing.
Formulate appropriate treatment plans based on clinical presentation of Lyme disease
Encourage patient education on tick bite prevention strategies

Disseminated Lyme Disease in the Pediatric Acute Care Setting
Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the United States, with approximately 476,000 people diagnosed and treated each year.  Many patients with undiagnosed and untreated early Lyme disease will progress to disseminated Lyme disease.  Disseminated Lyme disease is often treated in the acute care setting and may be difficult for providers to identify without the classic erythema migrans rash of early localized Lyme disease. This webinar will review presentations of disseminated Lyme disease in pediatric patients as well as appropriate diagnostics and treatment plans utilizing the 2020 Lyme disease guidelines.

Tick Talk: Addressing Misconceptions in Lyme Disease Diagnosis and Treatment
Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne disease in the United States, with approximately 476,000 people diagnosed and treated each year. Pediatric-focused APRNs in both high- and low-incidence areas may encounter Lyme disease, particularly with endemic areas expanding and increased patient travel. A 2022 survey of more than 600 nurse practitioners and other health care providers revealed that the respondents do not have strong confidence in their Lyme disease knowledge, and provider knowledge gaps exist regarding the appropriate diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease. This session will review key findings of this survey and address common misconceptions in the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease.
