Brain Surgery for Sinusitis and Otitis Media

Current national guidelines in the treatment of acute bacterial sinusitis and otitis media will be discussed. Astute clinical observation by both the primary and acute care provider is key to diagnosing life threatening complications from acute bacterial sinusitis and otitis media that require brain surgery and antibiotic therapy. These treatment strategies will be discussed throughout this continuing education.

Certified in both pediatric primary care and acute care who clinically practices with the pediatric neurosurgery team at the University of Chicago Medicine, Comer Children's Hospital. Published book chapters and clinical practice guidelines on a variety of topics related to neurosurgery. A member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and American Association of Neuroscience Nurses and has presented nationally on various pediatric neurosurgical topics.
Paula Zakrzewski, DNP, CPNP-AC
Certified as a pediatric acute care nurse practitioner who clinically practices with the pediatric neurosurgery team at John’s Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. Published book chapters and clinical practice guidelines on a variety of topics related to neurosurgery. A member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and American Association of Neuroscience Nurses and has presented nationally.
