3-PARRT: Human Trafficking 101
1.50 NAPNAP Contact Hour. This continuing education activity is offered at a reduced rate of $10 to NAPNAP Members. For non-members, this continuing education activity rate is $20. 3-PARRT (Providers Assessing Risk and Responding to Trafficking)- This course is intended to educate and equip pediatric care providers on the prevention of child trafficking.
Up to 87 percent of human trafficking victims have encountered a healthcare professional without being identified. Now is your chance to learn about human trafficking, especially related to children, adolescents and teens, so you are ready to help a victim in your practice setting. Don’t be fooled – trafficking happens in every state and every community. Human Trafficking 101, educates participants about this $32 billion criminal industry and its prevalence in all communities and sectors of our society. Participants will also learn how to recognize the signs of human trafficking in child victims and understand situations and challenges that make kids susceptible to trafficking predators. Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Define human trafficking (HT) and explore language related to HT
- Discuss the prevalence of human trafficking internationally and in the U.S.
- Identify risk factors related to HT
- Describe common processes of HT recruitment
