Overcoming Gender Biases in the Identification of Neurodevelopmental Disorders

This continuing education activity is a recorded presentation for NAPNAP's 2026 National Conference.
Girls with autism are often underdiagnosed due to gender biases that overlook their unique traits and behaviors. Increasing education and awareness among parents, teachers and health care providers can help challenge stereotypes and improve early detection. This presentation will focus on common but significant behaviors girls on the spectrum frequently display, supportive strategies to address their needs and providing a safe environment where girls can feel safe to express themselves.
The course will award 1.00 contact hours and is offered at a reduced rate to NAPNAP Members. This continuing education activity rate is $10 for NAPNAP Members, and $20 for non-members.
