Given the critical shortage of pediatric-focused advanced practice providers (APPs), there is growing concern regarding the future workforce of APPs serving patients in children’s hospitals. In this presentation, attendees will better understand the unique healthcare needs of children and changes occurring pediatric hospital care. Presenters will address current research examining the pediatric APP workforce including data on workforce trends in clinical specialties and opportunities to recruit new providers to the workforce. Presenters will discuss strategies and methods to improve recruitment in building a workforce and the role of APP leaders in advocating for future providers to enter a career in pediatric healthcare.
