Telehealth can overcome barriers to health care access and improve outcomes, but without attention to digital equity and existing health disparities, it may exacerbate rather than enhance health equity. Digital literacy, the digital divide, health literacy, cultural competency and accessibility are essential considerations for all telehealth providers whether connecting to patients across communities or around the world. This presentation will highlight digital inequities and methods to overcome them along with key elements of cultural competency necessary when providing virtual care.
