2019 Pediatric Rx: Module 5- Antibiotic Prescribing

This presentation will discuss prescribing for pediatric patients in light of spotlights on inappropriate antibiotic prescribing. A rapid review of current guidelines for treating pediatric infectious diseases will frame a discussion on how to incorporate guidelines into daily practice. Local and national resistance patterns will be discussed, as well as adverse effects of antibiotics including rising resistance and C. difficile rates. 

INTRODUCTION: This continuing education activity is administered by the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) as an Agency providing continuing education credit. Individuals who complete this program and earn a 70% or higher score on the post test will be awarded 1.25 NAPNAP contact hours, of which 1.25 is pharmacology.
