Flavored e-cigarette products are more attractive to kids than cigarettes but are still addicting them to nicotine—and almost half of kids who begin vaping start smoking cigarettes as well. According to the CDC and the National Youth Tobacco Survey, youth e-cigarette use increased tenfold between 2011 and 2015 and the rate of use continues to accelerate. Yet most middle and high school kids, their parents and teachers are not aware that vaping products contain nicotine and are not harmless. This course will inform you about the risks associated with this trend and arm you with strategies to bring  to your practices, schools and communities to spread the message that vaping products contain nicotine, which causes addiction, may harm brain development and lead to continued tobacco product use by youth.

This continuing education activity is administered by the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) as an Agency providing continuing education credit. Individuals who complete this program and earn a 70% or higher score on the post test will be awarded 1.0 NAPNAP contact hour, of which 0 is pharmacology.
