RSV Prevention in Infants and Young Children: Empowering Pediatric NPs to Lead Early Protection

1.0 NAPNAP Contact Hour. This continuing education activity is offered free to NAPNAP Members and for non- members.

RSV remains a leading cause of serious illness in infants and young children—but prevention has entered a new era. With long-acting monoclonal antibodies and maternal vaccination now available, healthcare professionals have powerful tools to reduce severe disease and hospitalizations. This engaging activity equips pediatric NPs with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the evolving RSV prevention landscape—covering the latest evidence, safety and efficacy data, and current immunization guidance for infants and young children. Participants will also strengthen their ability to integrate immunoprophylaxis into care plans and communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to support informed shared decision-making.

How to Participate in This Activity and Obtain CE Credit

To participate in this activity, you must read the objectives, answer the pretest questions, view the content, and complete the CE posttest and evaluation. Provide only one (1) correct answer for each question. A satisfactory score is defined as answering 70% of the posttest questions correctly. If a satisfactory score on the posttest is achieved, NAPNAP will issue a NAPNAP CE Contact Hours Certificate.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

1. Explain the burden of RSV-related morbidity and mortality among infants and young children at highest-risk for severe disease
2. Assess evidence from recent clinical trials on the safety and efficacy of monoclonal antibodies as novel strategies for RSV prevention in pediatric populations
3. Apply current guidance to develop and implement care plans that ensure appropriate use of RSV monoclonal antibodies for all infants, including best practices for counseling parents and caregivers
