The session will also introduce the Alliance to Prevent Youth Suicide, a new five year initiative supported by NAPNAP Partners for Vulnerable Youth. For non-members, this continuing education activity rate is $20. This presentation will discuss infant sleep patterns and the effectiveness of sleep training. Our research seeks to understand infant sleep norms, parental perceptions of infant sleep problems, correlations between infant sleep issues and parental wellbeing, and the effectiveness of sleep training. We hypothesize that infant sleep counseling will lead to improved measures of infant sleep, lower incidence of parental stress, and reduced incidence of unsafe sleep practices such as bedsharing.

According to the CDC, 2-5 million, animal bites occur annually in the United States and per the American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC), close to 10,000 insect bites or stings were reported to their centers. This presentation will be delivered in a case study format to help the participant identify needed history taking, recognize proper wound care if needed, and delineate required interventions. Lastly, appropriate pharmacology will be introduced, including a discussion on if and when antimicrobials and prophylaxis are warranted.
